Trenton D. Watrous, CPA, CVA, CFE
Partner

Trent’s focus at WSW is centered across two practice areas: the Dental Service Line and the Fraud, Forensic and Litigation practice. Trent particularly enjoys working with clients that have complex challenges. Whether working to improve profitability of dental practices that struggle from limited cash, or analyzing volumes of data in his role as an expert witness, Trent is comfortable with confronting complex issues and developing solutions to alleviate them.

His professional experiences as a tax accountant, auditor, expert witness, forensic accountant and business consultant prepared him for the challenges of today’s business climate. With 19 years of experience, Trent focuses on matters pertaining to managing investigations of financial fraud, economic damages and industry specific service as a Dental CPA.  Trent serves dental clients in roles which range from oversight of practice transitions to practice startups to growth management within dental practices.

Based upon high ratings from audiences, Trent has become a sought after speaker to a variety of groups.  He has been an instructor on fraud and tax matters to Special Agents of the FBI on topics ranging from financial statement fraud to tax matters to money laundering. Trent often speaks to groups on a variety of topics ranging from types of white-collar crime to forensic accounting to industry specific business or accounting matters.  Trent has taught physicians “how to steal” (to increase their awareness of employee fraud), bankers to read financial documents, and auditors to detect deception.

In addition to forensic matters, Trent’s professional experiences have provided him the ability to be a “go to” resource for clients struggling to develop viable solutions to deep problems. From dental practices to manufacturers to professional service firms, Trent’s knowledge of accounting coupled with a compassion for people has provided clients with results not considered possible.

Note:  Trent has provided testimony on a variety of matters in both federal and state court as an expert witness as well as serving as a consulting witness on numerous cases.  His Curriculum Vitae is available upon request.

Life isn’t about the accounting or the numbers. It’s about people. Use the numbers to ensure people can reach their potential.

When not at his desk, Trent enjoys cooking with his wife, cruising in his vintage 1948 Willys Jeep, or working the honeybee hives in his backyard.
